Twilight and PIES!

So Juju and I had a Mom & daughter day on Saturday. There was NO WAY I was taking her to see Twilight on opening day. I can't stand large crowds EEEKK!!! So it was a Saturday Matinee first showing of 10 a.m.

1. Got up early ,left early
2. Went to Walmart and stocked up on Beef Jerky, gummy bears, maple nut goodies, peanut butter bars and soda
3. Picked up tickest at will call
4. Had a super tasty breakfast at Silver Diner

While at Silver Diner it was nice just her and I . Chillin and talking about school ,her friends. It has been hard for me to connect with her because I have been in the stage of "SO NOT COOL " Parent. She has been changing before my eyes so quickly. It is hard for me to keep up. We talked about the people playing the different characters in the movie who we liked and didn't like. Both of us were CRAZY excited about seeing it. I had read the entire series before I let her read it and found it appropriate and just a good read. It is nice that she found Edward to be the guy she would want to marry one day...sans the vampire part.

We had to wait 1/2 hour outside the theater for it to open. BUT it was so worth it. We were the first and second ones in. We RAN to the theater and SNAGGED our favorite seats. Behind the center bar. I was really surprised how many people were there for a 10 a.m showing. It was nearly packed. When the movie started there was a collective SHRIEK of joy from all the teens in the audience. We LOVED the movie! It stayed close to the book. We can't WAIT till the second movie comes out supposedly in 12/2009. It was one of those moments with my daughter I was glad to have with her. It is so rare we relate on any level. So for a brief moment I was the "Cool Mom" Still no PDA in public her head could explode HAHHAHHA

Pies PIES PIES!!!

I have LOTS of pies to make in the next couple of days. Right now I am simmering Blueberries in Red wine till they are syrupy. Then off to the fridge till tomorrow assembling of pies ! My parents are staying south for Thanksgiving. So we will be spending it at the weeone's God Mother's house. I am bringing the Ham and PIES!! WOOHOOOO!!! Then later this week since there will be only one service for Sunday I will have to figure out how to manage the menu. PLUS I had planned on doing something special for my Sunday school class but I don't know how many kids will be there. hmmm....exactly how many cupcakes DO I MAKE????

One day till Beaujolais Nouveau 2008 !!!

WOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!! ONE MORE DAY!!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
As you can tell I am QUITE happy about this!!!

Last night was our Home Group. It was really good! I have been learning a lot. And knowing my Church is a TOTAL FREAK Friendly place is ASTONISHING!!! Still waiting to see if someone there will pull a Linda Blair. AH forever the pessimist I am.I still think I may make the t-shirt that says " Freak Friendly Church" HAHA
I cannot believe Thanksgiving is NEXT FREAKING WEEK! SHOCKING! There are somethings this year I have been able to sort out about myself . There are reasons we do the things we do and they are not always apparent to our conscious mind. I sometimes feel as if the subconscious is working on it's own and not letting me in on the joke. Today is a bit of free day for me. So me and the weeone will be using glue, scissors and LOTS of paper! She will be learning to use the scissors. Should make for an interesting project. The weather cab STAY OUT THERE! IT BUTT FREAKING BURN YOUR SKIN KINDA COLD. NO THANKS! This will require more HOT coffee!

Weather Chicken

THIS is what I am....I dread the BUTTFREEZINCOLDWEATHER!!! The weeone on the other hand runs around like it super charges her. FRIGHTENING! I need to run errands this morning or my poor pups will have no food for tomorrow. SO I will just bundle up and bear it. Yesterday I woke up from having 10+ hours of sleep I was in a GREAT mood all day. This morning...I am dragging. I think I could have slept longer. I had a bizzarro dream last night of working in Georgetown again at a clothing store. I want to say it was like Ambocrombie or something like that and I caught this guy stealing all of these clothes. The guy was in his late 20's early 30's.I was so PISSED that he stole all these clothes from the store I worked in. It was the same feeling I had back in the day when I DID used to catch shoplifters. Chasing them through the mall or down Wisconsin Ave. The worst thing that ever happened was losing a nail when I got thrown into a rack of clothes by a kid I was chasing through my store. Luckily that ended with him getting caught and face planted by a customer of mine then. But back to the dream. I couldn't get the D.C cops to come and arrest this guy and I knew I could only hold him for SO LONG. Then the dream switched to the used bookstore I used to work at back in the late 80's and I was tutoring a kid in language arts. I have no idea where that came from. Then it was time to wake up. I seriously could have used at least 3 more hours. It is days like today that I hope I do not run into anyone I know because I do NOT plan on putting on any make-up...what's the point to tired to put it on correctly HAHA!
Ok back to getting another cup of coffee. What is insane about today. N8 ACTUALLY rode his motor bike into work today. INSANE I TELL YOU INSANE!!!

Wednesday?

When I am sick I forget how it feels to be well. I am happy to say I am finally over the "ICK" I had from last week. SO it is back to making and baking. I am thinking of doing either an Eggnog Pound Cake or Eggnog Twinkies. I never realized how much of what I do get inspired to try and make is from my husband. He likes things that are so different from me. And my girls inspire me to make things that are more simple when I start to over think a recipe. Today I need to plan out the menu for Sunday.

Yesterday was a holiday so N8 was home and it is always so strange to have him home during the week. I dragged him and the girls out to run errands and look at Christmas decorations. I trying to be less humbuggy about it this year. Well I should say each year I try and be less of a grouch. This year the weebear is 3 and more into the idea of holidays. Hard to be a grouch when you have a 3 year old bouncing around. I will say the two things I look forward to during the last two months of the year is the food and watching "It's a Wonderful Life" hmm I wonder if I can figure out how to make a stuffing and gravy muffin....hmmmm gravy.

Beaujolais Nouveau

November 20th the release of Beaujolais Nouveau 2008 WOOHOOOO!!!!!

Germs SUCK!

I think getting up at 2:30 a.m on election day. Worrying about who would win all day, and staying up all night to watch the returns then the speeches. Was maybe not so good on the immune system. Today is technically cookie day but this week I had to cancel the Sunday baking. germs have taken over my body and it feels like my house with both girls sick and patient zero being N8. THANKS N8! Well this will give me a chance to figure out what I want to change for next week and if there is anything new I would like to try. Right now nothing comes to mind due to sinus pressure. Why can't humans be allotted a spare body in the closet so you can change out of the sick one and put on the healthy one. THAT WOULD BE COOL!!! Right up there with the invention of a teleporter! Ah well in light that I do not have either I will settle for making myself a hot cup of tea and trying to entertain a sick 3 year old and watching Nick Jr.

What a night!

I stayed up last night to watch the returns and see the landslide victory. WHAT A NIGHT! Everyone else was asleep and I was on lots of cold medicine and sleepy but I was determined to stay awake. McCain's concession speech was beautiful and gracious. I stayed up to watch Obama's speech and the reason I voted for him and donated to his campaign is the feeling of Hope that he conveys. He carries the hopes and prayers of our nation. I told Juju this morning he won she was very happy. I told her how VERY VERY important this win was. That never in history has there been anyone but a white person holding the highest office in the land. He has united and surpassed the color barrier and truly has proven that you CAN be anything in America no matter who you are. It just goes to show you that your vote DOES COUNT! Virginia is now a BLUE state!

I am so happy the election season is over. The amount stress it was causing me was ridiculous!

VOTED!!! GO BATTLEGROUND VA!

We got to our polling station at 4:20. N8 and I were the 3rd and 4th person in line. Waiting went surprisingly quick. And BROTHER by the time we left the line was out the building and went down the parking lot and around into the neighborhood of the school. I hope people do not get discouraged today. It was the first time N8 and I voted together. Only I would think it romantic that even though I was the 3rd person in line I was the first to use one of the 5 voting machines and N8 used my machine afterward. YES I thought it "Romantic". I went there armed with Halloween chocolates, cold medicine and tissues. Breakfast of a hardcore voter!  Here are a few photos I snapped this morning. There was a lot of cheers when the doors opened and they announce the polls were open! Juju woke up at 4 to watch the weeone. Thankfully she stayed asleep but I need to give that girl a big hug for getting up for us this morning.

V-DAY!

I have been up since 2:30 this morning. I have a horrible cold but I am WAY to AMPED to stay asleep. N8 should be getting up shortly. We are leaving for the polls at 4:30. The longest I have every waited in line was 3 hours for the Kerry/Bush election. I don't even know how many people will be waiting at our polling station at 4:30 this morning. But I really don't care. I haven't been this excited about an election..since well..the last election but I really like the guy I picked. I think once I come home then my body will crash from all the adrenaline this morning. Then I am REALLY going to feel how sick I am.

SO EVERYONE OUT THERE VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!
